Tonal Painting Workshop
A hands-on workshop with Glyn.
This will be the first of a series of workshops where we reduce the palette and work with fewer colours. This first session will be about working with no colours at all!
The presentation will cover how value (or tone) alone is so important in conveying form, light and distance.
We will be looking at how artists have used tone in different ways. We intend to cover..
Ink and engraving - Piranesi to Zorn (and even comics!)
Painting a grisaille
Open grisaille (and the work of Richard Schmid)
And the use of tonal painting as underpainting
Members will be able to work on their own tonal studies with some provided reference.
