Barrie Jervis

I started drawing when a teenager as an alternative to endless reading and was encouraged to attend life drawing classes from about the age of sixteen by my grammar school art master. I’ve continued with life drawing and painting ever since using charcoal, pastel, conte crayon, ink and oil paint. It is enjoyable, absorbing and a very good discipline. However, the majority of my work consists of pastel landscapes inspired by the Derbyshire scenery. Sometimes I also paint in oils, producing portraits, landscapes and other paintings which might be described as the representation of ideas.
